l'Unione Sovietica hanno sviluppato contemporaneamente una tecnologia che permette di ridurre le dimensioni di qualunque
oggetto materiale miniaturizzando i singoli atomi, 

ma con la limitazione che tutto ritorna alle dimensioni
originali dopo un massimo di 60 minuti.



Uno scienziato di nome Jan
Benes, operante oltre la cortina di ferro, lavora su come estendere illimitatamente la persistenza del processo. Con
l'aiuto della CIA, Benes riesce a fuggire in 

occidente, ma rimane gravemente ferito in un tentativo di
assassinio. Ridotto in stato di coma da un embolo cerebrale, viene sottoposto ad un intervento chirurgico da parte del
Governo 

statunitense ansioso di conoscere le nuove scoperte sulla miniaturizzazione persistente.



Per eseguire l'intervento un gruppo di scienziati ed esperti, del quale fanno
parte l'agente Grant, il capitano Bill Owens, il dottor Michaels, il chirurgo Peter Duval e la sua assistente, 

Cora Peterson, entra in un sottomarino che viene miniaturizzato e iniettato nel corpo di Bene

transferred, their motorcade is attacked. Benes strikes his head, causing a blood clot to form in his
